The problem seems to be your particular threshold for what constitutes greed and selfishness is extraordinary low and includes legitimately succesful people who have become very wealthy as a result of their hard work and taking risks, both of which you do not seem to be able to appreciate.
Rather than be bitter and scornful of people who are more successful than you, you might want to look for lessons in their example.

Sven, if the septics can see any political mileage in questioning the placement of the WC in 2018 in Russia, they will upset as many apple-carts as it takes to get it moved: I don't believe they give 2 fucks about the 2022 placement.
Russia, though, absolutely needs the WC, for internal & external political reasons, and most of all, for financial reasons: it brings a shit load of foreign wonga into the country, some of which may just benefit the population as a whole, rather than a few elite.

If the WC is going to be taken away from Russia what do you have to do to justify this? The reason I say this if you are going to give it to someone else, how do you do that? Since 2018 was fixed there's no reason to not assume that the votes for that WC are irrelevant, so given the time left, what do you do and how do you do that?
Next question is who does it. FIFA is in no condition. It is rapidly running out of officials of any sort, never mind trustworthy ones. How do you know that whomever takes over from the current collection of criminals isn't going to have the same crooked principals as the last lot?
At this point, isn't it time to reconsider that the model Blatter put in place, where Mali's vote carries the same weight as Germany's is reviewed, and the power is handed back to the countries that actually warrant that power of vote?
Blatter's model, plus a few quid in a brown paper bag was what got him his Presidential position.....that has to change, moving forward.

Obviously 2018 is the next one and I am not sure that a defence of 'everyone else did it' will wash in what you'd hope is some post-Blatter FIFA or new world body. Don't hold your breath though.
To be honest I can't see anything happening to take it away from Russia as we will be told 3 years is too late to make a change.
In fact I suspect 2022 will also go ahead as planned in Qatar.
The best we can hope for is a line drawn beyond then.
You will forgive me if I suspect the new FIFA won't be that different from old FIFA.

That reads a little like paranoia to me.
The mainstream media are on this because Blatter is finally being brought down and the Russia world cup is in question as it coming up.
It is of particular interest to UK journalists because the UK lost out to Russia in that bid.
The fact that the ones in the past were also won like that is no secret but there's not as much of a story in that as the ones coming up in the future.
It's not Russia specific. It would be like that whoever had "won" that bid in that way. It's time, rather than country which cause the interest.
